Vattanac Bank Launches Vattanac Merchant Wallet

Vattanac Bank Launches Vattanac Merchant Wallet

Vattanac Bank officially launched the Vattanac Merchant Wallet, during a dinner reception at the Rosewood Phnom Penh, on 13 March 2019.

The Vattanac Merchant Wallet enables Cambodian merchants to receive payments from Chinese visitors with AliPay or WeChat Pay. Vattanac Bank provides its partner merchants with the e-wallet application so that they can scan the customers’ QR codes and complete the cashless transactions. Chinese visitors therefore have easy and convenient options to pay for their purchases in Cambodia.

During the function, Vattanac Bank’s President, Lok Chumteav Oknha CHHUN LEANG, welcomed the distinguished guests and partners, and spoke of the Bank’s progress as a local bank since its establishment in 2002. She described why the Bank is pleased to launch Vattanac Merchant Wallet - as a response to the expanding market and customers’ needs, providing convenience to customers, and offering good business opportunities to partner merchants.

Ant Financial Group’s General Manager for Cross Border Business in South East Asia, Dr. Cherry Huang, highlighted in her speech that Alipay wanted to provide its customers with the much needed mobile payment facility here in Cambodia and that they were very happy to partner with Vattanac Bank – a bank that has in common with Alipay: the core value of ‘Customer First’. Mr. Zheng Jinfeng of Allinpay expressed optimism over the partnership with Vattanac Bank. A presentation about the Vattanac Merchant Wallet and a demonstration of how it is used were conducted by Ms. Sakura Wong of Neurogine and Mr. Lim Chin Wan of Vattanac Bank.

H.E. Dr. THONG KHON, the Minister of Tourism; H.E. WANG WEN TIAN, Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia; H.E. KHUONG SRENG, Governor of Phnom Penh Municipality; and other distinguished guests attended the function.

With the introduction of the Vattanac Merchant Wallet, Vattanac Bank becomes the only fully licensed bank in Cambodia to have all of the following services: Alipay, WeChatPay, Visa, MasterCard and UPI.
